Graduate Spotlight: Terrance Johnson

Meet Terrance Johnson, after working 10+ years as an Orthodontic Assistant, he decided to leave the workforce and pursue an education in hopes of obtaining a financially secure future.

Although he was raised on the Eastside of San Antonio, Terrance had no prior knowledge that St. Philip’s College was in his backyard. “With the turmoil that goes on in this neighborhood, it’s easy to miss that a gem like SPC is sitting right in the middle of our community,” he explained. 

He embarked on his educational journey at SPC after a former colleague shared her academic successes with the institution. “After enrolling, I fell in love with the campus, being here gave me a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment,” he said.

Throughout his time at SPC, Terrance was involved in various organizations including Collegiate 100, Math & Engineering Club and the Student Engagement Grant Peer Mentor Tutor Program where he mentored early high school students.

“Putting my education first was the best decision I made, SPC stood behind me and provided the support and reassurance I needed to complete my program,” he said.
